Will my insurance cover the treatment?
Most of the time yes, but this depends on your coverage, insurance plan and how much benefits you have left for the year.
As a courtesy, we can help you by checking for you, but since you are the policy holder, we recommend that you check with your insurance carrier.
Will I need to return to your office for follow-ups after the procedure is finished?
Yes, for most root canal treatments, we recommend that patients return to the office 1 year after the procedure was finished. Our office will send a reminder notice to you when you are due for a recall appointment.
How long does the procedure normally take?
Our treatment appointment is usually 1-1.5 hours.
Will the treatment be painful?
We will take every measure to ensure that your procedure is in no way uncomfortable or painful. If treatment is needed, we will inject a small amount of anesthesia to gently numb a concentrated area of your mouth. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours.
Will I have any pain after the treatment?
Studies shows that existing discomfort is a positive predictor for discomfort after the procedure. Discomfort may be form existing inflammation from infection or form a live but a very inflammed nerve.
Most of the time, the discomfort can be controlled with an over the counter medication like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Ocassional a slightly stronger medication may be necessary.
Do I need to take time off work for the rest of the day?
Usually no. The local anesthetic may last for 2-3 hours after the procedure. It is strongly recommended that you refrain form chewing when the area is still numbed.
